21st Century Community Policing
Several high-profile incidents where complaints of the use of excessive force against individuals and subsequent backlash in the form of civil unrest are resulting in a loss of trust, lawsuits, and loss of life. The thought that these issues are BIG City concerns and can’t happen in your jurisdiction is like buying a first-class discount ticket on the Titanic—great feeling, great view, but the voyage will end badly. The evidence is undeniable. Officer misconduct is a real issue in every jurisdiction across the nation.
Topics include Procedural Justice (e.g., Changing Mindsets using 21st Century Policing concepts, Unconscious Biases, Policing Principles, Rules of Engagement and De-Escalation, and Crisis Intervention), Police Legitimacy (e.g., Importance of Values, Four Principles of Just Behavior, Authority and Power, Police Leadership, and Level Four Communications), and Cultural Competency (e.g., Building Trust, Racial Profiling, Social Landscape, Rules of Poverty, and Transparency).
A separate program of training and education under this area is our 12-Month Executive Law Enforcement Strategic Leadership Circle Program (e.g., Leadership Assessments, Guiding the Organization Safely into the Future – Strategic Leadership, Seeing the Future – Strategic Thought, A Realistic Future – Resourcing the Strategy, Developing and Executing the Strategy, Monitoring and Adjusting the Strategy, and Mentoring and Coaching Sessions).
