On January 20, 2017, Colonel (Ret) Byron A. Freeman, US Army Military Police Corps had the opportunity to respond to numerous questions regarding the security for the US Presidential Inauguration as a security expert for WGN-TV (Chicago). Colonel (Ret) Freeman has extensive security experience and knowledge working with the US Secret Service and other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
According to Colonel (Ret) Freeman, “excellent planning and execution by security personnel involved in the one event, which occurs every four years, where you have most of our country’s current and future leaders assembled outside.” There are numerous layers of proactive security measures, looking in and outside, to anticipate and react to any threat. In other words, security personnel mindset is to “expect the unexpected.”
